About Jaime

Having grown up in a preacher’s home, Jaime has been given the privilege to play an active roll in church music, both singing and playing piano, since the early age of seven. At the age of 15, she became the church pianist. She has been giving piano lessons since 1991 and has led ladies' choirs, teen choirs, and children's groups as well as assisted in the church choir. She has accompanied a vast number of vocalists with a wide variety of styles and preferences.

Jaime began her musical career by simply plucking out a melody by ear. Her mother taught her to read notes on the staff and hear the pitches in scales and chords. Unfortunately, she depended on her ear so much that she resisted the need to sight read well. But when she was 14, a wonderful teacher and mentor, Shirley Nebel, came into her life and change her musical career forever! Jaime's mother was gracious enough to drive 2 hours (one way) for her piano lessons with Mrs. Nebel. Those 4 years of lessons proved to be the most critical and helpful years of her musical education. Shirley Nebel taught her proper poise and technique, theory, sight reading, improvisation, dynamics, and so much more. She also gave her pointers on being an effective church pianist whether for congregational playing or accompanying musicians for special selections in church. Over the past several years, Jaime has continued her self education studying and analyzing the music of some of the great church musicians of our day.

For some time, she has had a desire to help church pianists to advance their musical abilities. While she has been a local piano instructor for 20 years, she has recently offered an opportunity to help pianists abroad. In addition to a church musician, Jaime is a mother of two (Kent & Arielle), the wife of a pastor (whom she's madly in love with), a very involved member of http://www.westomahabaptistchurch.org/, and a photographer on the side...just for fun. She enjoys interior decorating. Coffee runs freely through her veins. Anything peanut butter is her daily staple. And she loves her little Shih Tzu, Cannoli, and large calico feline, Sybil.
